Review: Similac Pro-Advance Infant Formula

review of similac pro advance

My entire pregnancy I knew that I definitely wanted to breastfeed, not only would it create a closer bond between me and my baby but having worked in hospitals for the last couple of years I knew I had some of the strongest immunity out there and wanted to pass that on to my little one
(also, the fact that breastfeeding burns up so many calories wasn't a bad thought either)

As I mentioned in this post here , I had zero idea that the first couple days your milk doesn't come in. Instead you produce colostrum (which is supposed to be enough to keep your baby satisfied, but my little chunk wanted more than I could give her).

So the first few days were at home were rough, Bridget just wouldn't latch so I spoon fed her as much of the colostrum as I could get out and when my milk finally did come in I pumped and pumped and pumped.

Ultimately we decided to just stick to formula.

Don't get me wrong, breastfeeding is great and I was heartbroken when it turned out it just wasn't in the cards for me. If you are lucky enough to have great production and a baby that latches on keep doing what you're doing!

But for those who didn't have much luck or maybe just didn't want to, that's completely fine too!

I spoke at length about this with our pediatrician who encouraged me to do what I felt was best for my baby and who also said that with such advancement in formula that there really isn't much difference between formula and breast milk.

Similac Pro Advance

I received the Similac Pro-Advance Infant formula as a sample, however I do not get any monetary compensation for this. I'm just a mom who strongly believe that this is some of the best formula on the market right now!

I even met with the Similac drug representative a few weeks back and gave my input on how I believe the Similac Pro-Advance has really helped bolster up my little one's immune system.

Now I'm not a scientist, but as a mother I am able to observe my baby's response to her formula changes.  We started her on it in January and she hasn't had a cold since. And anytime she begins to get a little sniffle her body is able to fight it off.

This formula is the only one with 2' - FL (which is the most abundant human milk oligosaccharide found in most breast milk), why is this good for your baby?
- Helps support baby's developing immune system in the gut
-2' - FL is structurally identical to human breast milk

Currently its the only formula on the market that has 2'-FL and its focus was on helping little one's build immunity. What's nice is there's also a Pro-Advance sensitive formula for those tummy's that need a little bit of TLC.

Sign up for the Similac Strong Mom's program and begin receiving coupons! Formula is so pricey and any little bit helps. I was fortunate enough to get many months worth of free samples from my clinic. It definitely is worth it to ask your pediatrician if they receive formula samples.

Has anyone else tried the Similac Pro-Advance? What did you think of it??
